Session Proposals

REQUEST FOR NOMINATIONS: SPEAKERS AND SESSIONS, open until April 30, 2014. Please read below for application tips. Contact Stephanie Stephanie.Seto@naaap.org , Convention Programs Director, if you have questions.

Each year, NAAAP’s Convention and Career Fair (www.naaapconvention.org) brings together speakers, facilitators, teachers, and motivators who share their insights about leadership, professional development, and issues affecting Asians.  The 2014 convention theme, “Rise of Asian America,” underscores what the Pew Foundation, Nielsen, and NAAAP already know, that Asians are undeniably significant players in business, government, science, arts and entertainment, and the increasingly global economy.    The Convention Planning Team wants your nominations of sessions and speakers who can educate and engage our audience.  Our goals include making the Convention meaningful to persons at different stages of their lives and careers: our anticipated audience includes young Asian working professionals and job seekers, mid-career professionals seeking greater challenge and reward; and Southern California professionals.

ABOUT THE AGENDA AND SPACE:  The NAAAP Convention will offer 16-20 sessions, two or three at a time, on Sep 4, Sep 5, and Sep. 6. Each session will last 60-75 minutes and should include an introduction, presentation and preferably interactive exercises, and Q&A.  Each session will take place in a Hilton Anaheim meeting room (150-250 attendees) with a projector, screen, lavalier or microphone, and WiFi.  Chairs are set classroom style and may be rearranged.

The more interactive the session is, the higher the evaluations you will receive. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, NAAAP has limited funds and will not pay speaker honoraria, travel or lodging. However, we will register our speakers for all programs and meals and receptions on the day of their session or presentation. Registration for additional days of the Convention at the speaker’s cost (or discount cost) may be arranged. We would like to introduce a new benefit for Convention speakers, NAAAP’s new Speakers Bureau.
