The Power of Dreams and Crushing Obstacles
Join Svetlana Kim as she takes you through her colourful journey - one of adversity and courage - all being captured in her first award-winning memoir named after her grandmother. She has grown from a lonely immigrant arriving in New York City on a cold December day in 1991, to working as a cleaning lady, a department store clerk, a stockbroker, and subsequently becoming an executive with LancÙme, running the NBC Universal's Business Women's Network, and finally becoming a fundraiser for former Sen. Hillary Clinton. She has conquered it all. One realization as she reflected back was the value her babushka (grandmother in Russian) had told her years ago: "We must face every situation with faith, hope, and love. Embrace all that life throws at you, good or bad; neither will last forever. Life is a gift from God, and it's up to you how to use it." All her obstacles and adversity have been a foundation for her success, but most importantly, she knows who she is.

Negotiation Skills for a Multi-Cultural World
Scholar, Edward T. Hall called culture the “Silent Language.” More importantly, he noted, “most of culture is acquired and therefore cannot be taught.” If culture is unspoken and cannot be learned, how do we effectively negotiate with people from different cultures? We tend take our own culture for granted; we don’t realize our own culture’s impact on our communication or negotiation style. Nor do we fully understand that different cultures have different styles of communicating and negotiating . The first step in creating cultural awareness is recognizing our own cultural preferences. In this presentation, participants will
1. Identify their own cultural preferences with respect to influence and decision making.
2. Identify how they communicate those preferences. 3. Identify ways they use communication techniques to bridge any cultural gaps.
Once we are aware of the ways in which culture might be impacting our communication and negotiation style, we can develop simple ways to bridge the cultural gap.

Flex Your Leadership Style to Improve Your Team's Effectiveness
In our current business environment those individuals we lead have increasingly more tasks to complete on a daily basis. Their capability and effectiveness of completing those tasks often depends on the style of leadership we deliver to them. This workshop takes a look at why a flexible leadership style is the most effective approach.
Ken Blanchard’s Situational Leadership® is a comprehensive, practical, and proven method of effectively managing people through a flexible approach to your leadership style. Applying Situational Leadership®, you would first diagnose the competence and the commitment of an individual on your team to do a task and then apply the appropriate leadership style to that individual for that specific task. The challenge for you lies in the fact that different leadership styles will be needed with this individual for different tasks. Through this session, you will learn how to “flex” your leadership styles and more effectively lead your team.

Bump Up Your Brand: How to Create Your Signature Style and Attract Fans
Many people think that personal branding is just for celebrities such as Madonna or Michael Jordan, yet each and every one of us is a brand. Personal branding, by definition, is the process by which we market ourselves to others. As a brand, we can leverage the same strategies that make these celebrities or corporate brands appeal to others. We can build brand equity just like them. Social media tools have leveled the playing ground and have enabled us to reach incredible heights. Join Panney Wei, NAAAP National Senior Advisor/WIN Senior Advisor, Certified Hypnotherapist-Life Coach, and On-Air host of “Positive Changes with Panney Wei” on KCAA 1050 AM, NBC News Radio, and she’ll share with you her personal branding process, so you can start to think about what face you want to show to the world and how you want to position yourself for success!

The Joy of Aviation, The Benefit of Leadership Development: How Learning to Fly Can Make You a Better Leader
Have you ever wanted to learn how to fly an airplane? Learning to fly is one of the most common dreams of so many people. David Lum, a licensed private pilot, will love to share with you how to become a licensed pilot, what the training process is like, and what it takes to go through the rigors of flight training. In addition, the flight training process of creating safe and excellent pilots also has unexpected and beneficial side effects of creating outstanding leaders. David will also explain why you can also become a much better leader after you have achieved your private pilot's license. This seminar is targeted for all professional Asians/Asian-Americans who have an interest in aviation.

Career GPS: How to Successfully Navigate Your Journey From Individual to Manager to Leader
On the journey to career success in a large global company, there are different work expectations and daily behaviors for employees at the individual contributor, manager, and leader levels. These expectations and behaviors must change with each successive level of leadership. Because companies often do not provide effective guidance in supporting these leadership transitions, examples of key expectations and work behaviors for a U.S.-based large company will be discussed during the program. The program will include best practices for defining and communicating objectives at each level of leadership, and suggestions on how to recover from common career development mistakes.
