Volunteer: Recruitment and Retention
Whether modestly compensated, or working for next-to-nothing (or sometimes even nothing) - volunteers are a major resource opportunity for any organization to deliver on its objectives, while still being able to stay within tight or nonexisting budgets and serve its customers. The real dilemma is: how do you get and retain good volunteers? Do they always spontaneously raise their hands when you put out the “Call?” Once you have a list of names, how do you get them to do what is needed by your organization? Do you have to live with starting over each project from scratch with recruiting all new volunteer forces each time? Is there a more efficient and effective way to do this each time I need to use volunteers? In this workshop, we’ll explore how volunteers are a little different, and yet the same or even better than paid resources in the same position. You’ll take away new ideas how to attract good people, and build teams that feel good about their contributions while you’re able to still meet your zero-dollar budgets and serve your customers. Learn from what works and doesn’t, and take home a better way of utilizing a vastly powerful resource that is often mismanaged and misunderstood.
